Junior Breakers Player Program

KFC NUGGET CUP

The KFC Qld Breakers club initiated a junior player program in 2003 to assist the development and growth of our junior players and to produce players to fill our future KFC QLD Breakers national league player rosters. In our 2011 senior playing roster, there were close to 20 players who had come through our junior nugget competition and junior breakers representative teams.

The Nugget program will be running again in 2012. Download the Nugget membership form and send to Wendy Goode, our Junior Breakers coordinator.

The club also supports our juniors by providing an opportunity for them to represent the KFC QLD Breakers at National Junior Club Championships and select invitational tournaments.

In 2011, the club entered a boys and girls teams in the National U14 (Canberra) where the boys  won the silver medal, and 2 boys teams U16 (Melbourne) Club Championships finishing 8th & 18th, with 2 boys selected in National 16 years and under squad.

2012 Nugget competition

We are seeking junior players, both boys and girls, born 1995 and later to participate in 2012 KFC QLD Breakers Nugget Cup program. Download the membership form now and send to Wendy Goode, our Junior Breakers coordinator by 9th December 2011.

Participating Nugget players will be allocated into one of 4 teams (Zingers, Twisters, Popcorn chicken or Crispy Strips) that will play in a round robin competition as warm up games prior to the Saturday night home KFC Queensland Breakers National League games.

KFC Nuggets Cup teams consist of 10 - 13 players of ages up to 18 years with games played over 2 x 8 minute halves.

Nuggets may volunteer to be Junior Breakers volunteer officials and act as goal judges and scoreboard attendants during the national league games, enabling them to observe games closer than being spectators in the stands.

Junior players are strongly encouraged to be spectators at all KFC Queensland Breakers home games and take the opportunity to observe top Australian players compete at the Valley Pool.
